if you both are running windows you both can sign up with windows live. then you can use remote assist and access there computer to fix it
Answer 2 :
if you have windows just go on to their site and read about their remote desktop access. if you do both follow the steps u should be able to view her computer on your screen. -> click it http://www.microsoft.com/windowsXp/using/mobility/getstarted/Remoteintro.mspx

Go to the MSN Web site (http://download.live.com/?sku=messenger) to download or enter your User Name and password to log in to your account. Open MSN Messenger by double clicking on the program in the system tray. View your list of friends and family and see if someone is online who can provide assistance. Contact an available person with an instant message to see if he or she can help you. Use MSN Messenger to Request Remote Assistance 1 Click the "Actions" link and then choose "Request Remote Assistance" from the menu. 2 View the list of available people from the "My Contacts" box that opens up. 3 Click on the name of the person you want to ask for remote assistance. 4 Click the "OK" button to send the request. 5 Wait for the other person to accept your request. 6 Click "Yes" to begin a chat session. This will allow you chat during the remote assistance session. 7 Explain your request in the chat session and click "Send" to send the message. Use MSN Messenger to Provide Remote Assistance 1 Open MSN Messenger on your computer. 2 Click "Accept" when you receive the remote assistance request. 3 Click the "Take Control" button to assume control of the remote computer after receiving the reason why the remote session is needed from the other person.

Remote Assistance is something you can use if you both have XP or later: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/remoteassist/intro.mspx Or you can use some kind of VNC software. I like the look of this one which you can get a plug in for: http://majorgeeks.com/UltraVNC_d4143.html Plug-in: http://majorgeeks.com/Remote_Access_Control_RAC_d6357.html There's a bunch of them, freeware, shareware, that you can find here: http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=2 The keyword to look for in any of them is the word "remote"
