there is no solid answer. there are numerous things required for this to be answered correctly. you will need the weight, dimensions of the box, value of the laptop, and so on. since it is being exported to another country, you will need to find a customs broker to clear in brazil. the best thing to do is to call a freight forwarding broker to get you a more accurate quote. try one of the links below to see if they can help you out. it may be cheaper just to buy one down there.
Answer 2 :
It depends on the cost of the laptop. Unless you hand carry it, it's not going to make it through customs. Don't ship anything of value through courier, mail, shipping, etc. If the laptop costs US$2000 and shipping costs US$50, you just lost $2050.
Answer 3 :
Cassy - the answer would really depend on the particular laptop involved, as there can be a fairly significant difference between the weights of various models. I guess the other major cost factor would be how quickly you want or need the computer to arrive. Here's an example: A Dell Inspiron 1520 weighs about 6 1/2 pounds. That's fairly typical of a lighter-weight laptop, I guess. You'll want to pack it carefully for shipping, so the actual package that you'll mail will probably weigh more like 7 1/2 pounds, let's say. Assuming that you declared a value for the laptop of something like $900, and shipped it in a box that was a little bit larger around than the computer, here's a few cost estimates (prepare to cringe!) UPS: $240-250 (depending on shipment time) Postal Service: $43-63 (again, depending on shipping time) FedEx: $200-220 In all cases, you'd be looking at something like 5-7 days for delivery, though the postal service offers Express, which I didn't quote you in the estimates above. A couple of things to think about: You'll need to research the relevant import duties that Brazil would charge for you to mail a laptop into the country ...and also...make sure that you find out if the electrical outlets at your destination are the same type that your American computer is designed to employ. Most of the Brazilian sockets are the same as US sockets (though they deliver a slightly higher voltage), but there are some oddball outlets in Brazil that won't play nice with your non-Brazilian electronic devices. Hope that helps. Pack it carefully, and unless money is no object, you'll probably want to consider the good old US Post Office as your first option.
Answer 4 :
you may be able to fit the laptop in a usps priority mail box international rate for maybe $50

What type of power do they use in Argentina and Brazil - 120 or 240 V

What type of power do they use in Argentina and Brazil - 120 or 240 V?
I am travelling there for business in June and also to England. I am thinking of getting a power converter for my laptop. I have a Dell D620.

Answer 1 :
We use 220 volts to be precise. Anyhow, if you plug a 240 volt electronic device it will work as well. Check if your laptop converter accepts 110-240 volts, as most convertors nowadays do.
Answer 2 :
Argentina C, I 220 V 50 Hz Brazil A, B, C, I 110 V and 220 V 60 Hz Check the power pack on the laptop cord to see if it handles 220/240V. You will probably just either need a plug-type adapter on the end, or a different cable running from the power pack to the wall.
Answer 3 :
Argentina: officially 220V 50Hz Brasil: Both 127V/60Hz or 220V/60Hz (North American or European plug) although 127 is more common. Don't worry about this though because your dell should be able to handle from 100V to 240V. Check the power adapter or power supply, it will be written on it
